FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQ: FAQ

DO I NEED A REFERRAL FROM MY GP TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?

Not at all, you can call us directly, but if you do have one, please bring that along to your appointment so your physiotherapist can see their assessment of your problem. The same applies for x-ray and MRI results or any clinic letters relating to your injury, bring those too.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Comfortable clothing and footwear. We may need for you to remove something so your physiotherapist can work on that area, but they will always be discrete and cover you with a towel so you are as comfortable as possible. Let us know on booking if you have a preference for a male or female physiotherapist.

CAN I BRING SOMEONE WITH ME?

In normal circumstances, yes of course. However, with COVID-19, we prefer you come alone or let us know at the time of booking that you would like to bring someone. They will undergo COVID-19 screening too and be asked to sit with you in your treatment room. Waiting in the reception area is sadly not allowed at this this time.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM MY FIRST CONSULTATION?

A warm welcome from all the team in a relaxed but professional setting. Your physiotherapist will conduct an in-depth  assessment starting with a thorough look at the history of your injury or pain, including anything you have already been doing to help yourself and lifestyle factors affecting. They will make a functional assessment, including looking at movement, flexibility and strength. You will receive hands on treatment and, where appropriate, an exercise rehab programme to do at home. You will agree next steps with your physiotherapist.

I HAVE PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE; CAN I USE THIS FOR MY TREATMENT?

We deal with all the major health insurers. For our insurance clients, please pre-authorise your physiotherapy treatment with your insurer first to make sure you are covered, and bring your insurance details, membership number and authorisation code to your appointment. You may have an excess to pay, your insurer will advise you of this, and this is paid directly to the clinic. However, usually your insurer will write to you to let you know which treatments you need to pay the clinic for under your excess.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

That very much depends on individual circumstances. Once you have been assessed in your initial consultation, your physiotherapist will be able to agree with you a plan for getting you better. This more often than not will include exercises to do at home. It is important you do these as they will affect how quickly your recovery will be.

FAQ: FAQ

HOW LONG WILL THE SESSIONS LAST?

We ask you to allow an hour for your appointment and your session can vary from 45 minutes to an hour, depending on what treatment is required.

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL MY APPOINTMENT?

That’s no problem, we only ask that you give us at least 24 hours’ notice as per our policy (missed appointments will be charged for). Simply give us a call or leave us a message if we are not able to pick up. We kindly ask this, especially during the restrictions, as we operate a cancellation list for people who are waiting for appointments.

CAN WE HELP WITH ANYTHING ELSE?
